State Requirements
Many states and territories require attorneys to complete a certain amount of MCLE to maintain their license to practice law. LegalEdge offers a variety of programs to earn MCLE credits.

MCLE Requirements
Attorneys are required to take 25 hours of MCLE every three years. Requirements include the following:
Program Qualifications
Credits qualified to be earned through LegalEdge based on course type.
Live Webcast
25 credits may be satisfied with live webcasts.
On Demand
25 credits may be satisfied with on demand programs.
Attendance Reporting Procedure
Effective August 1, 2021 LegalEdge reports attendance to the state within 60 days of the attorney’s completion of a program for programs taken on/after August 1, 2021. Please make sure to provide your attorney license number in your account under My Profile, so we can report your attendance.
Attorneys are ultimately responsible to report their attendance to the State Bar every three years according to a schedule determined by the first letter of their last name. Attorneys assigned to a compliance group will always remain in that same group, even if they change their last name.
NOTICE: Please note the following updates to MCLE compliance deadlines:
Last names A-G: Extended to a single 38-month cycle ending March 29, 2025.
Compliance groups 2 and 3: Extended to a single 38-month cycle ending March 29, 2026, or 2027.
After the single 38-month cycle, each group returns to a standard 36-month cycle starting March 30 of their respective year and ending the day before the deadline 36 months later.

Paralegals in regulated jurisdictions can meet their CLE compliance by completing accredited CLE programs through LegalEdge.
What are the CLE requirements for California paralegals?
Total CLE Hours: 8 hours every two years
Required Categories: At least 4 hours in legal ethics
Program Eligibility: All California CLE-accredited programs qualify for paralegal credit.
California Assembly Bill 2303, effective January 1, 2007, amended Business & Professions Code Section 6450(d) to outline these requirements. Paralegals must certify completion of their continuing education through their supervising attorney and are responsible for maintaining their own certification records.
