Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) regulation continues to evolve rapidly as federal and state agencies expand enforcement priorities, adopt new regulatory requirements, and courts address increasingly complex litigation involving contamination, product liability, and cost recovery claims. Attorneys advising manufacturers, property owners, municipalities, insurers, and other affected stakeholders must navigate overlapping statutory frameworks, emerging compliance obligations, and developing case law that shape PFAS-related risk.

In this CLE webinar, Libby Stennes, Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, LLP will examine the changing legal landscape governing PFAS regulation and litigation, including developments under federal environmental statutes, evolving state regulatory initiatives, and significant litigation trends. Attendees will gain practical legal analysis regarding regulatory compliance, supply chain and enforcement risks, liability considerations, and litigation strategies relevant to PFAS-related matters. This program is designed for attorneys, including in-house counsel, environmental practitioners, and litigators advising clients on environmental compliance, enforcement, and dispute resolution.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, attorneys will be able to:
  • Analyze the evolving federal and state legal frameworks governing PFAS regulation and advise clients on emerging compliance obligations.
  • Evaluate how developments under environmental statutes and regulatory enforcement initiatives may affect end to end operations, liability exposure and risk management.
  • Assess current litigation trends involving PFAS.
  • Counsel clients on regulatory enforcement risks and legal considerations when responding to government investigations and compliance actions.

Libby Stennes is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig with over 25 years of experience litigating high-profile toxic tort, mass tort, and products liability matters, with a particular focus on PFAS and other emerging contaminants. She was among the first toxic tort litigators in the country to address PFAS claims and has been involved in all aspects of litigation defense and policy development. Her work includes negotiating a complex settlement, overseeing implementation of water treatment, community health studies, and a medical monitoring program, defeating class certification, and obtaining summary judgment. Clients rely on Libby’s ability to understand complex science and translate it into litigation strategy and clear messaging for stakeholders in and out of court. Given the explosion of U.S. federal and state PFAS regulations, Libby advises clients on compliance, due diligence, liability mitigation, and supply chain sustainability.
