’Ripple’ Effect: Unpacking the Long-Awaited Crypto Decision and Its Impact for the Digital Asset Industry

On July 13, 2023, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York issued a highly anticipated decision in SEC v. Ripple Labs on the parties’ cross-motions for summary judgment. The opinion is certainly regarded as a win for the industry as it adds nuance to the regulatory market and creates the first significant hurdle for the SEC’s regulation by enforcement strategy.
